# How to Get More Views on TikTok (2026)

To get more views on TikTok, make videos people watch to the end and interact with. TikTok says interactions such as liking, sharing, commenting, and watching in full or skipping are generally weighted more heavily than the other factors behind the For You feed ([TikTok Support](https://support.tiktok.com/en/using-tiktok/exploring-videos/how-tiktok-recommends-content)). It also says follower count is not a direct factor ([TikTok Newsroom](https://newsroom.tiktok.com/en-us/how-tiktok-recommends-videos-for-you)). A new account can get reach if the video holds attention. In practice: a hook in the first two seconds, one clear topic per video, words people search for in your caption and on screen, a posting rhythm you can keep, and a weekly look at TikTok Studio analytics. Facts below are from TikTok's own pages, checked September 2026.

## What TikTok says drives For You recommendations

TikTok's Help Center names three groups of signals for the For You feed ([source](https://support.tiktok.com/en/using-tiktok/exploring-videos/how-tiktok-recommends-content)):

| Signal group | Examples TikTok gives | What you control |
|---|---|---|
| User interactions | Content people like, share, comment on, and watch in full or skip | Hook, pacing, length, whether the video pays off |
| Content information | Sounds, hashtags, number of views, the country it was posted in | Sound choice, hashtags, topic |
| User information | Device settings, language, location, time zone and day, device type | Language of captions and speech, and when you post |

TikTok says user interactions, "which may include the time spent watching a video," are generally weighted most heavily. Its 2020 explainer gives an example of a strong signal: a viewer finishing a longer video from beginning to end counts for more than a weak signal, such as the viewer and creator being in the same country ([TikTok Newsroom](https://newsroom.tiktok.com/en-us/how-tiktok-recommends-videos-for-you)). The same post says neither follower count nor past high-performing videos are direct factors.

Two more details from the Help Center matter for creators. TikTok typically doesn't recommend content a person has already seen, and it mixes in content outside people's usual interests to keep feeds varied. Content that breaks the Community Guidelines is removed, and some content that isn't suitable for a general audience is recommended less or not at all.

## 1. Win the first two seconds

Since watching in full or skipping is a core signal, the opening decides most of a video's reach.

- **State the payoff immediately.** "This one setting doubles your phone's battery life" beats a slow intro.
- **Show the result first, then how you got there.** It works well for recipes, makeovers, edits and before/after.
- **Put the hook on screen as text.** Some people scroll with the sound off, and on-screen words also help search.
- **Cut the dead air.** Remove pauses, "um"s and the three seconds before you start talking.

## 2. Make videos worth finishing, and consider going past one minute

TikTok's own growth tips suggest creating content longer than one minute ([TikTok Support: How to grow your audience](https://support.tiktok.com/en/using-tiktok/growing-your-audience/how-to-grow-your-audience)). That's also the minimum length for videos to earn under the Creator Rewards Program (below). Longer only helps if the video keeps its pace: a 70-second video people abandon at 10 seconds does worse than a tight 25-second one. Structure longer videos as a sequence of small payoffs: a hook, then step one, step two, and a result.

Current length limits: videos you record in the TikTok app can be up to 10 minutes. Videos you upload can be up to 60 minutes ([TikTok Support: Camera tools](https://support.tiktok.com/en/using-tiktok/creating-videos/camera-tools), as of the latest version of the page we could check).

## 3. Be findable in TikTok search

In TikTok search, content information such as "how well the content matches the specific term entered" is generally weighted most heavily ([TikTok Support](https://support.tiktok.com/en/using-tiktok/exploring-videos/how-tiktok-recommends-content)). So:

- Use the words your audience would type ("easy sourdough starter," not "my bread journey").
- Say the keyword out loud, put it in the on-screen text, and write it in the caption.
- Add 3 to 5 specific hashtags. See our guide to [TikTok and Reels hashtags](https://exemplary.ai/blog/best-hashtag-tiktok-reels) for how to pick them.
- Add captions. They help viewers watching without sound. You can [add captions to TikTok videos](https://exemplary.ai/add-captions-to-tiktok) automatically and correct them before posting.

## 4. Pick a lane and post on a rhythm you can keep

TikTok says interactions such as accounts you follow and content you like shape what you see. A consistent topic helps the system, and viewers, learn what your account is for. Post on a schedule you can actually sustain. TikTok doesn't publish a required posting frequency, and quality drops fast when you post more than you can make well.

For timing, use your own data. TikTok Studio's analytics include a Viewers section with "activity times of your viewers" ([TikTok Support: TikTok Studio](https://support.tiktok.com/en/using-tiktok/creating-videos/tiktok-studio)). Our guide to the [best times to post on TikTok](https://exemplary.ai/blog/best-tiktok-times) explains how to read it.

## 5. Turn viewers into regulars

TikTok's own [growth tips](https://support.tiktok.com/en/using-tiktok/growing-your-audience/how-to-grow-your-audience) are to engage through comments and LIVE, check analytics, and collaborate with other creators through Duet, Stitch and LIVE.

- **Reply to comments, including with a video reply.** It starts your next video with a question your audience already asked.
- **Ask one specific question** in the caption or the last line of the video.
- **Collaborate** with creators in a neighbouring niche so each of you reaches the other's viewers.
- **Use series.** Numbered parts ("Part 2") give people a reason to follow.

## 6. Use trends when they fit

Trending sounds and formats can help because sounds are part of the content information TikTok uses. TikTok Studio's Home tab has a Trending feed you can filter by region and topic ([TikTok Support](https://support.tiktok.com/en/using-tiktok/creating-videos/tiktok-studio)). Only use a trend if you can make it about your topic. A trend that confuses your usual viewers can bring views that don't turn into followers.

## 7. Repurpose longer content

If you already make podcasts, webinars or YouTube videos, you have more short-form material than you can film from scratch. Cut the moments that work alone (a strong opinion, a surprising number, a clear how-to), reframe them to vertical and add captions. Exemplary AI (our product) does this with its [TikTok clip maker](https://exemplary.ai/ai-clips): it finds candidate moments, reframes with speaker detection, adds animated captions and drafts titles and descriptions for you to edit.

## Creator Rewards Program eligibility

If earning from views is the goal, check the requirements on TikTok's [Creator Rewards Program page](https://support.tiktok.com/en/business-and-creator/creator-rewards-program/creator-rewards-program). As of the latest version we could check, creators must:

- Be based in a country where the program is available, and have a personal account in good standing (business accounts aren't eligible)
- Be at least 18 (19 in South Korea)
- Have at least 10,000 followers and at least 100,000 video views in the last 30 days
- Post original videos at least one minute long

Videos start earning after 1,000 qualified For You feed views. Views shorter than 5 seconds don't count. Duets, Stitches, reposted clips with minor edits, and lip-syncs don't count as original content. Rules and availability vary by country and change often, so confirm on TikTok's page before planning around them.

## What doesn't work

- **Buying views or followers.** The Creator Rewards Program removes accounts that acquire fake views or inflate follower counts, and fake followers don't watch.
- **Deleting and reposting the same video.** TikTok typically doesn't recommend content people have already seen, so a repost mostly competes with your original.
- **`#fyp` and `#foryou`.** They describe no topic. TikTok's recommendation page doesn't mention them.

## FAQ

### Why are my TikTok views suddenly low?

Usually because recent videos are losing viewers early. Compare watch time across your recent posts in TikTok Studio analytics. Also check that the video doesn't break the Community Guidelines, since TikTok recommends some content less or not at all.

### Does follower count affect TikTok views?

Not directly. TikTok says neither follower count nor past high-performing videos are direct factors in recommendations. Bigger accounts still tend to get more views, because more people already interact with their videos.

### How long should a TikTok video be?

As long as it stays interesting. TikTok's growth tips encourage videos longer than one minute, and one minute is the minimum for Creator Rewards earnings. A short, tight video still beats a long, slow one.

### How many followers do you need to get paid on TikTok?

For the Creator Rewards Program, 10,000 followers plus 100,000 video views in the last 30 days, at age 18 or older, in a country where the program is available. Other monetization features have their own requirements.

### When is the best time to post on TikTok?

When your own viewers are active. TikTok Studio shows your viewers' activity times. Our [posting times guide](https://exemplary.ai/blog/best-tiktok-times) covers how to test it.
