# Online Screen Recorder

Record a browser tab, one window or your whole screen, and talk over it. When you stop, the recording is transcribed, and the video is in your files to download.

Exemplary AI's online screen recorder runs in the browser: choose Screen, share a tab, a window or your whole screen, and "Include my microphone" mixes your voice in. Chrome and Edge can also record a tab's sound; Safari and Firefox share no tab or system sound, so only your microphone is heard. Each recording stops at 30 minutes. ## How to record your screen online

1. Open the recorder and choose Screen. Keep "Include my microphone" on to talk over the recording.
2. Click "Choose screen & start" and pick a tab, a window or the entire screen. To keep the sound of a video or a demo, share a tab in Chrome or Edge and turn on the browser's option to share its audio.
3. Pause and resume as you go. The recording stops on its own at 30:00.
4. Press Stop & transcribe. The recording uploads and is transcribed; download the video from Files, or turn it into clips, captions or notes.

## An online recorder or your computer's own?

Your computer already records the screen. On a Mac, Shift-Command-5 records the whole screen, a window or a part of it, with a microphone; system sound needs macOS 27 or later. On Windows, the Snipping Tool (Windows-Shift-R) records an area of the screen and, since its 2023 update, your PC's sound and a microphone; the Xbox Game Bar (Windows-Alt-R) records apps and games. Use those for a recording you'll keep on your computer.

### How do I record my screen online without installing anything?

Open the recorder in your browser, choose Screen, click "Choose screen & start" and pick a tab, a window or the whole screen. There is no app or extension to install; you sign in so the recording can be saved to your workspace.

### Can the online screen recorder capture my computer's sound?

In Chrome and Edge, yes, when you share a tab and turn on its audio, and on Windows when you share the entire screen. Safari and Firefox don't share tab or system sound with web pages, so only your microphone is recorded there.

### Can I record my screen on an iPhone or iPad with this recorder?

No. Browsers on iPhone and iPad can't record the screen, so the recorder offers to upload a file instead. On those devices, use the system's own screen recording and upload the video.

### How long can an online screen recording be?

Up to 30 minutes per recording; it stops by itself at that point. Record a longer session in parts.

### How do I download my screen recording?

After you stop, the recording is saved to your workspace. Open Files and choose Download on it to save the video to your computer.

### Is the online screen recorder free?

You can use it on the Free plan: 500 one-time credits; files up to 500 MB and 30 min long; 720p video exports with a watermark. A recording has to fit those file limits to upload, and transcribing it uses credits.
