How it works

How to translate Korean audio to English

EN The latte here is really smooth.

Speech levels English does not have

Korean marks how formal a sentence is in the verb ending: the polite -요 of a vlog, the formal -습니다 of a presentation, the casual speech friends use with each other. English carries none of that in grammar, so the English reads the same whether the speaker was formal or relaxed.

Titles such as 씨 and 님, and words like 선배 for someone senior, also have no single English word. If the relationship between speakers matters to your viewers, say so in your description or keep the Korean title in the English.

Hangul, names and two ways to count

Hangul spells words by sound and Korean puts spaces between word groups, so names usually come out clearly in the transcript; family names come first, as in Kim Min-ji. Romanized spellings vary, so choose one for each name and keep it.

Korean uses native numbers for ages and hours and Sino-Korean numbers for minutes, money and dates, and counts large amounts in units of 만 (ten thousand). Check figures in the English, especially prices and subscriber counts.

What it does

Korean In, English Out

The Korean transcript comes first, so you check it before it becomes English.

Both languages, line by line

Each English line sits under its Korean line, with the same timestamp.

English subtitles on the video

Show English as subtitles plays the translation over the recording before you download it.

Livestream replays welcome

Paste a YouTube live replay link or upload the file; a replay longer than 30 minutes asks once before translating.

Romanized names, your way

Korean names can be romanized several ways; settle the spelling once and use it across the English subtitles.

Questions

Common questions

How do I translate Korean audio to English for free?
On the Free plan (500 one-time credits; files up to 500 MB and 30 min long; 720p video exports with a watermark): upload the Korean recording or paste its link, translate the transcript into English in the Translations panel, and download it.
Does it dub Korean audio into English?
No. You get English text: a transcript and subtitles for the Korean recording, with no synthetic voice.
Can I translate a Korean TikTok or YouTube video to English?
Yes. Paste the link (single videos from YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Vimeo or X), or upload the file. The Korean is transcribed first, then translated into English subtitles you can download.
What happens to Korean speech levels in English?
English has no verb endings for politeness, so the difference between formal and casual Korean shows only in word choice and tone. The meaning carries over; the speech level does not.
How should Korean names appear in English subtitles?
Family name first is the Korean order, and romanization varies (Lee, Yi, Rhee). Choose the spelling the person uses publicly and keep it the same in every subtitle.
