Twitch Clip Maker for TikTok and Shorts

Download your past broadcast from Twitch, upload the file, and get vertical clips of the moments where you were talking, with captions for TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Reels.

Upload a Twitch VOD

Free to start — no credit card required.

This Twitch clip maker works from your stream file, not a Twitch link: download the past broadcast (VOD) from your Creator Dashboard, upload it, and AI Clips cuts vertical 9:16 clips with captions for TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels.

It finds moments in what you say, so commentary, reactions and chat segments give it the most to work with. Free plan: 500 one-time credits; files up to 500 MB and 30 min long; 720p video exports with a watermark; a stream longer than the free file limit has to go up as a shorter section or on a paid plan.

How it works

How to turn a Twitch VOD into clips

Clipping Twitch streams: when to use what

For one quick moment, Twitch's own clip tool is the shorter route; our guide to clipping Twitch streams for TikTok covers it, along with saving VODs before Twitch deletes them. AI Clips earns its place when you want several clips out of a long stream without scrubbing through hours of footage.

Choosing a tool for your channel? Our roundup of Twitch clip makers compares options for gameplay streams and for talking streams. Clips can also go to YouTube as Shorts if each one stays within 3 minutes; the YouTube Shorts maker explains the rules.

What it does

Built for Streams Where You Talk

It works from the transcript of your stream, so it finds the reactions, stories and chat answers in hours of footage and turns them into vertical clips.

Finds the moments you talk through

Reactions, stories, hot takes and answers to chat are found in the transcript of the whole stream.

Framing that follows you

The vertical crop follows the people on camera rather than the game, so commentary and reaction moments keep you in the shot. To show the whole frame, game included, keep the Original shape.

Captions from your voice

Captions are generated from what you say; pick a style such as TikTok and correct any game term the transcript misheard.

One file for every platform

Download one vertical MP4 and upload it to TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Reels yourself.

Questions

Common questions

Can I paste a Twitch link instead of uploading the VOD?
No, there is no Twitch link import. Download the VOD from Creator Dashboard → Content → Video Producer and upload the file instead.
How do I post Twitch clips to TikTok in vertical format?
Upload the stream file and keep the shape at 9:16; the crop follows you on camera. Download the MP4 (H.264) file and upload it to TikTok. If the game matters more than your face, the Original shape keeps the whole frame, but the clip stays horizontal.
Why is there no download option for my last stream?
Twitch only saves past broadcasts when Store past broadcasts is turned on in your Creator Dashboard, and saved VODs are deleted after a while. Turn the setting on before your next stream, and download the VODs you want to clip soon after.
Does the Twitch clip maker work for gameplay with no commentary?
Not well. It finds moments in the transcript, so a silent clutch play or a funny glitch with nobody talking won't be picked. Clip those with Twitch's own clip tool or a manual editor.
Can I upload a full multi-hour stream on the Free plan?
Not in one file: the Free plan includes 500 one-time credits; files up to 500 MB and 30 min long; 720p video exports with a watermark. Upload a shorter section of the stream, or use a paid plan, which accepts larger and longer files.
Can I turn Twitch streams into YouTube Shorts too?
Yes. The clips are vertical MP4 files, so they can be Shorts. YouTube counts a video as a Short only if it is square or vertical and up to 3 minutes long. Every target is 120 seconds or less, under YouTube's 3-minute limit for Shorts. A target is not a cap, so check each clip's length before you upload it as a Short.
How do I get Twitch highlights to TikTok?
If you have a highlight saved as a video file, upload it the same way as a VOD and let AI Clips pick the moments, or select the part you want in the transcript and click "Create clip".
