AI YouTube Description Generator

Turn your video's transcript into a YouTube description you can paste straight into YouTube Studio.

YouTube Description Generator

Exemplary AI writes a YouTube description from your video's transcript.

Its "Description" preset returns a short intro followed by five bullet points on the video's key topics, which you copy into YouTube Studio and add your links to. YouTube allows up to 5,000 characters in a description.

How it works

How to generate a YouTube description

  1. Upload the audio or video file, or paste a YouTube, TikTok, Vimeo or X link, and pick the language it is spoken in.
  2. In the AI content presets, open "YouTube Video" and select "Description". Add "Chapters" too if you want timestamps.
  3. Copy the result, add your links and hashtags, and paste it into the description field in YouTube Studio.

What the description looks like

Example format: illustrative, not output from a real video
In this video we add chapters to a YouTube tutorial and show where each part goes.

- What video chapters are and why viewers use them
- How to write short, specific chapter titles
- Adding timestamps to the description
- Checking chapters in YouTube Studio
- Common mistakes that stop chapters from appearing

Hashtags for your description

Add hashtags at the end of the description. The hashtag generator suggests them from the same transcript and sets out YouTube's hashtag rules, including how many to use.

What it does

A description written from what you actually said

The description comes from your transcript, so it describes the video you made. Add your links and calls to action, and post.

Accurate to start with

Speech is transcribed before anything else happens, so every export downstream inherits the same source of truth.

Editable as text

Correct a name or a term once in the transcript and it is right everywhere. Cutting a sentence cuts the matching video with it.

Export in any format

Subtitle files, burned-in captions, clips, chapters or written copy — all from the one transcript.

The rest of it

YouTube Description is one part of one workspace

YouTube Description is one door into the same workspace. Whatever you came here to make, the rest is already available from the file you just uploaded.

  • Upload once

The same recording feeds every tool on the site. Nothing needs uploading twice to get a second format out of it.

  • Caption and translate

Burned-in captions or subtitle files, in the spoken language or translated with the timings kept intact.

  • Repurpose without re-editing

Clips, chapters, show notes, blog drafts and social posts all come off the one transcript.

Questions

Common questions

How long can a YouTube description be?
Up to 5,000 characters, according to YouTube Help ("Edit video settings"). The generated description is much shorter than that, which leaves room for your links, timestamps and hashtags.
What does the generated YouTube description include?
A short intro and five bullet points on the video's key topics. Links, calls to action and hashtags are yours to add.
Should I put timestamps in my YouTube description?
If you want chapters, yes: YouTube builds them from timestamps in the description. Run the Chapters preset on the same transcript, and check that the list starts at 00:00 with at least 3 timestamps.
How many hashtags can I put in a YouTube description?
No more than 60: with more than that, YouTube ignores all of them, and only up to 3 appear by the title (YouTube Help, "Find playlists & videos using hashtags"). The hashtag generator page covers the rest of YouTube's hashtag rules.
Can I get the description in another language?
The transcript can be in any of 99 languages, and the result is written in that language. You can then translate it into 116 languages.
Is the YouTube description generator free?
The Free plan includes 200 one-time credits; files up to 500 MB and 30 min long; 720p video exports with a watermark. Credits are used by the tasks you run, rather than a fixed number of generations.

One upload. Every format you need.

Drop in a recording and work from the transcript — clips, captions, chapters, show notes and posts all come from the same file.
