What is ChatGPT?
OpenAI recently released their new AI chatbot, ChatGPT, which was met with a lot of excitement in the artificial intelligence community - and broader society as well. This chatbot is designed to be able to hold natural conversations with humans and respond in a way that is not only informative, but also engaging. ChatGPT is capable of understanding natural language and responding in a similar manner. The chatbot has been well-received, with many users impressed by its intelligence and ability to provide solutions to complex problems.
ChatGPT is based on GPT-3.5, a language model trained on a vast amount of text data in order to learn the patterns and structures of human language. OpenAI trained this model using Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF), where AI Trainers involved in the training cycle, similar to how InstructGPT was trained, but with some tweaks to the data collection process. It is more engaging than the older GPT-3 model, and is able to generate detailed text and even poems. It also has a memory window that allows it to recall earlier comments in a conversation. Despite still being in its beta testing phase, ChatGPT has already proven to be a versatile tool with a wide range of potential applications, from conversing about books and articles to problem solving and code generation. ChatGPT has a deep understanding of language and is able to generate text that is coherent and relevant to any given topic.
How it works?
ChatGPT has the ability to generate or complete human-like responses. It is a fine-tuned model based on GPT-3.5 which is large language model that processes input and generates output that is intended to be similar to human speech. It is designed to be used in a wide range of applications, including customer service, personal assistants, and social media moderation etc.
- Has the ability to retain knowledge of recent conversations for context
- Can handle follow-up corrections from the user
- Has been trained to refuse inappropriate requests
How to use: Users simply need to input a message or question, and the chatbot will generate a response. The chatbot is able to understand the context of the conversation and provide appropriate and engaging responses.

- Sign up or login using an authentication provider.
- Follow the instructions or simple write your prompt into the text box.
What are the benefits of using ChatGPT?
Here are some potential advantages of using ChatGPT:
- Improved user experience: ChatGPT is designed to generate human-like responses, which can help to improve the user experience vastly over a traditional chatbot interface.
- Greater efficiency: ChatGPT is able to handle a large volume of inquiries and provide personalized responses in real-time. This can help to improve the efficiency of customer service and other applications.
- Higher quality search results: ChatGPT provides results that synthesize answers to a query often making it far more productive than using a search engine.
- Rich content generation: ChatGPT can generate rich content that have multiple use cases. For example: Writing recipes or humorous stores.
- Flexibility and adaptability: ChatGPT is able to adapt to different conversation styles and topics, allowing for a wider range of potential applications.
- Cost-effective: Using ChatGPT can help to reduce the need for human labor, which can help to lower costs and improve efficiency.
- Solve complex problems: ChatGPT can solve complex For example: ChatGPT explains the worst-case time complexity of the bubble sort algorithm, with Python code examples, in the style of a fast-talkin’ wise guy from a 1940’s gangster movie, here.
- Potential for innovation: The use of ChatGPT can help to drive innovation and creativity in the development of new AI applications. Overall, ChatGPT has the potential to be a powerful and useful technology, offering a range of advantages that can help to improve user experiences and drive innovation.
What are its Use Cases?
Here are some potential use cases for ChatGPT:
- Customer service: ChatGPT can handle a large volume of customer inquiries and provide personalized responses in real-time. This can improve customer satisfaction and reduce the workload for human customer service representatives.
- Personal assistants: ChatGPT can be used as a personal assistant to help users with tasks such as scheduling appointments, finding information, and managing their daily tasks and providing information on demand.
- Education: ChatGPT can be used to provide personalized learning experiences for students, with the ability to adapt to each student’s needs and learning style. E-learning: Assist with online learning, providing personalized feedback and guidance to students.
- Code Generation: ChatGPT can be used to provide support to non-devs build easy to complex apps from scratch, like this.
Working like an instant StackOverflow, here.
- Cloud Services: ChatGPT can effortlessly link cloud services together to do complex tasks, here.
- Mental health support: ChatGPT can be used to provide support and guidance to individuals dealing with mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression.
- Sales and marketing: ChatGPT can be used to engage with potential customers and provide personalized recommendations and information about products and services.
- Social media moderation: ChatGPT can be used to moderate comments and conversations on social media platforms, helping to identify and remove inappropriate content.
- Healthcare: ChatGPT can be used to assist with medical consultations, providing information and answering questions on a wide range of health topics.
- Design: ChatGPT could be future of interactive design where it could be used to create prompts for creative design. For Example: Create prompts for DALL-E/StableDiffusion, here.
- Entertainment: ChatGPT can be used to create engaging chatbots for games and other entertainment applications.
Are there any Limitations with ChatGPT?
While ChatGPT has many benefits and potential uses, there are also some disadvantages to using this technology. Here are a few of the potential drawbacks:
- No clarifying questions If chatGPT doesn’t understand a user’s input, rather than asking follow up questions, it guesses what the user intended. Ideally, chatGPT should respond with questions clarifying the input from the user, before addressing the input.
- Nonsensical Generations At times, chatGPT may generate nonsensical or incorrect responses which seem plausible-sounding.
- Lack of human interaction: A potential disadvantage of using ChatGPT is that it lacks the human touch that is often important in certain situations. For example, in customer service or healthcare, a human touch may be necessary to provide emotional support and empathy. While ChatGPT is designed to generate human-like responses, it is not guaranteed to provide appropriate level of empathy and emotional intelligence required for certain functions.
- Sensitivity to input phrasing Slight tweaks or adjustments to the input’s phrasing can lead to unexpected results, such as chatGPT suddenly being able to respond to a rephrased input, when the original input’s response was that it doesn’t know the answer to that input.
- Ethical concerns: There are also ethical concerns surrounding the use of AI technology like ChatGPT. Some people may have concerns about the potential for AI to replace human jobs, or the potential for bias and discrimination in AI systems. Ethical concerns: The use of AI technology like ChatGPT raises ethical concerns about the potential impact on jobs and the potential for bias in the algorithms. When it comes to generating inappropriate content, or being tricked into outputting such content, OpenAI has certain safegaurds in place, and ensuring safe use is of prime importance to OpenAI and other model/service developers. OpenAI is using their Moderation API to deal with unsafe content.
- Limited capabilities: While ChatGPT is considerably advanced, it has its limitations. The chatbot is not guaranteed to be able to handle complex or nuanced conversations. Limited scope: ChatGPT is trained on a large dataset of human conversations, but it may not be able to handle every topic or situation. This could lead to the chatbot providing inadequate or inappropriate responses in certain scenarios.
- The information provided by this tool may not always be accurate. It may occasionally generate instructions or content that could be harmful or biased. Its knowledge of the world and recent events is limited to the period up until 2021.
- Security risks: As with any technology, there is also a potential for security risks with ChatGPT. For example, hackers may try to gain access to the chatbot’s data or manipulate its responses. It will be important for users of ChatGPT to take appropriate security measures to protect against these risks. Privacy concerns: ChatGPT collects and processes user data in order to generate responses. This raises concerns about data privacy and the potential for misuse of user data.
How Exemplary AI can use ChatGPT in recorded meetings?
ChatGPT doesn’t currently have an official API but the underlying large language model GPT-3.5 does. We’re integrating GPT-3.5 into our platform so you connect to Exemplary AI’s API and analyze meeting recordings or transcripts using the same technology that powers ChatGPT. Exemplary AI’s platform also allows you to view, edit, retrieve and share valuable information from your recorded meetings.
